Steven Flynn  |  CA, CPA, Partner

Steven is a partner with W.L. Dueck & Co. Prior to joining W.L. Dueck & Co. he was Director of Finance at UMA Group Ltd., a civil engineering firm with business activities in Canada and the US.  Before joining UMA Group, Steven spent 7 years with Ernst & Young in Vancouver including the last 4 years in the tax group focusing on both US and Canadian tax issues.

Steven has taught Part I of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Program and has presented cross-border income tax topics before the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC and various other groups. Steven also wrote an article for Beyond Numbers in January 2007 entitled “Tax Traps & Tips: US Tax Issues for Canadians Selling US Real Property”

Steven concentrates in the area of Canadian and US cross-border tax. His practice includes US and Canadian income tax planning and compliance for both individuals and businesses. He provides income tax advice on US investment and operations in Canada, Canadian investment and operations in the US, investment in US and Canadian real property, employee or individual emigration and/or temporary relocation and the Canada-US Income Tax Treaty. He also represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and Canada Revenue Agency.

Married with one daughter, in his spare time Steven enjoys golf, fitness and spending time with his family. Steven stays active in his community as a volunteer soccer coach and coordinator for his neighbourhood block watch program.
